Airstream Interior Makeover Ideas

This one simple picture is loaded with makeover ideas. Right away you will notice the entire trailer interior is painted white for a clean appearance. For to the window, leather strapping was used in a unique way to hold the light blocking rollup shades. For privacy during the day but not block the sun, sheer drapes were used to cover the window. The sheers are suspended in place by thin stainless wire at the top and bottom. For a slightly industrial look, galvanized pipe and fittings were used as curtain rods and standoffs. This also gives you a hook for hanging signs and accents. Rough cut wooden shelves have been added to the corners as small accent tables. These again are mounted using pipe and fittings.

For the audio buff, full range speakers are mounted into the original Airstream molded interior corners. The subwoofer is mounted under the seat. Don't forget those throw pillows.

Just because it's a camping trailer bathroom doesn't mean it has to look like one. This quartz countertop with a subway tile backsplash has a homey feel. A stainless sink and classic farmhouse faucet completes the look.

Notice the jute rope in the corners. While it was a request of the customer to use the rope for accent, it would also be a stylish way to cover any unsightly cracks.

Camping with a baby presents its own unique challenges. To solve this problem, PVT created a built-in baby bed for this camping family's little one. Nestled in with the other cabinets, the bed is at a nice height to also be used as a changing table. The length of the space means that the young one will not outgrow it any time soon. When they do, it will make a good daytime storage area for pillows, blankets, and cushions.

The tall cupboard beyond the baby bed has a bar for hanging coats, suits and dresses.

You already love the exterior appearance. Why not bring that 'look' inside so you can enjoy it all the time? PVT polished the interior ends of this 1956 Bubble for an Airstream Feel inside the trailer and it works magic inside this small area. Side accent lighting was added to bring it all to life. The naturally reflective surface opens up the space and makes a relaxing and inviting area.

Extra sunlight flowing into your camper during the day will decrease the need for using your batteries. PVT equipped this camper with 2 roof sunlights; one in the kitchen/living area and smaller one just outside the bathroom. The skylights were trimmed in rough-sawn cedar boards, stained dark to match the trim in the rest of the camper.

One of the latest trends in home decorating is the barn door mounted on a track with rollers. Here, the PVT crew created a 'barn door' for use as a sliding bathroom door. The deadbolt in the floor keeps the door secure during traveling.

Notice the small skylight above the door. A simple sliding shade was made with grommets and suspended between two small stainless cables.

The last thing you want to do while enjoying your vacation time away from home is cleanup after cooking. An easy to clean aluminum wrapped backsplash in your kitchen takes care of that. Just a quick wipedown with your dishcloth and greasy splashes are gone.

Plenty of cupboards and drawers in this restoration. As you can see, the rough sawn cedar makes another appearance by the entrance and as an accent in front of the baby bed. In addition to the wall mounted lighting, LED recessed lighting was installed throughout the trailer - of course with dimmer switches. The shelf above holds the family's wireless router with leather strapping.

This Excella upgrade also included the installation of a security system and a solar charging system. Nine solar panels were installed on the roof for charging the batteries.
